My primary areas of specialization are 20th century British literature and critical theory. Although I have published and presented on modern authors and filmmakers, my scholarship has a decidedly contemporary emphasis. I am particularly interested in the ways in which the "worlding" of literature and the "return to realism" have shaped the reception and production of postwar British literature.
Like all members of the department, I teach general education classes as well as upper-division courses for majors. In addition to the standard composition load, introduction to film, and the "capstone" course, I routinely teach graduate and undergraduate courses in British literature, drama and bibliography.
