| How to transfer to MSU:
Contact the Office of Admissions to begin the application process. (I have nothing to do with the acceptance/denial of students.)
As part of the application process you will be required to send an official transcript to the Office of Admissions. The Office of Admissions will forward your official transcript to me for evaluation. I will evaluate your transfer work and send you an unofficial checksheet for the academic program you have selected. The checksheet will provide you with a list of the requirements for your degree and your transfer courses will be substituted into the checksheet in place of an MSU course. If you have taken courses which may be applicable to your degree, but do not show on the checksheet, your advisor/department will evaluate these courses at a later date.
Courses from selected schools are listed on an equivalency chart. Keep in mind, if you do not find your school or a particular course listed on the equivalency chart, it does not mean that we will not accept it as transfer credit.
The following people should be contacted for specific transfer of credit:
Military Credit: Deborah Ross, Associate Registrar
Graduate Credit: Susan Maxey, Coordinator, Graduate Programs
Veteran's Affairs: Betty Washington, Assistant Registrar
Undergraduate International College Credit: Deborah Ross, Associate Registrar
Will my credits transfer to Morehead State University?
Credits you have earned from regionally accredited colleges/universities will be accepted for transfer (but may not be accepted toward a particular
degree). The six regional accrediting agencies are: the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA), the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA), the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc./Commission on Institutions of Higher Education (NEASC-CIHE), the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU), and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). (Any developmental courses you have taken will not accumulate towards degree requirements.
Transfer credit received from non-regionally accredited colleges/universities, which may be applicable to your field of study, may be reviewed after you complete 12 hours at MSU with a 2.0 gpa. Our policy is outlined in the University catalog.
If you would like for me to review your transfer work before you are admitted, please send me the following information:

Important information about your transfer transcripts:
-
You need to have each college you have attended send an official transcript to the Office of Admissions. (If you have attended more than one college, I can not evaluate transfer work from one college that is listed on the transcript of another college.)
-
An official transcript is one that is sent directly to MSU from the transfer institution on their official transcript paper, which has the school seal and signature of the registrar
-
If you transfer to MSU, your transfer work will still be held/owned by that transfer institution. You are not moving your credit from ABC college to MSU.
-
If you are transferring from a public college/university in Kentucky, you should ask them to list your General Education Certification Areas on your transcript. (See FAQ's for info about General Education Certification)
