Students admitted to any educational leadership program after August 1, 2004 will be required to submit an exit portfolio. The portfolio must include artifacts that reflect the student�s skills as a leader. Portfolio entries will include work completed as a part of all coursework required for the program as well as artifacts created as a part of the student�s professional responsibilities. The educational leadership faculty will assess the portfolio. A total portfolio score of twelve (12) or higher is required for recommendation for certification. A rubric for assessing the portfolio and a checksheet providing guidance for assembling the portfolio may be obtained from any educational leadership faculty member or by clicking the links shown below. |

Program Matrix
Remembering deadlines is an important part of completing a degree or certification program. The following links provide information about some of those important dates:
Application for program completion should be completed at the beginning of the term a student expects to complete the requirements for the degree/certification. You will note that there is an application for degree program completion and an application for nondegree program completion. Click on the following link for more information: MSU Graduate Programs.
The Kentucky Principals Test (KPT) is offered several times during the year. Students are STRONGLY encouraged to use the online Study Guide offered through the Education Professional Standards Board in preparation for the exam. Click here for dates for the KPT.
The School Leaders Licensure Assessment (SLLA) is based on standards developed by the Interstate School Leaders Licensure Consortium (ISLLC). This test is given 3 - 4 times a year. Personnel from MSU's leadership program usually offer a workshop for students taking the exam. Contact your advisor for information about the workshop. Contact the Educational Testing Service for additional information. Click here for dates for the SLLA.
Degree and Certification Options
Interested in developing your leadership skills and pursuing an advanced degree at the same time? The MSU Instructional Leadership Program offers you several options from which to choose. Students may earn a Masters in School Administration which leads to certification as a school principal (P � 12). Students may also earn certification as a supervisor of instruction, director of pupil personnel, superintendent of schools, or the highest degree offered at Morehead State University, Educational Specialist in Instructional Leadership.

State regulations require students who are pursuing certification as a school principal to pass two tests for certification purposes. The School Leaders Licensure Assessment (SLLA) is based on the Interstate School Leaders Licensure Consortium (ISLLC) Standards developed by the Council of Chief State School Officers.
