Laurie Couch,  Associate Professor and Interim Chair of Psychology

I am a Social/Personality psychologist with a research specialty in interpersonal relationships.  After earning my master's and doctorate in Experimental Psychology from the University of Tennessee, I came to Morehead State University in 1997.  Since that time I have taught several courses in the Department of Psychology, including Introduction to Psychology, Introduction to Social Psychology, The Psychology of Interpersonal Relationships, Health Psychology, and Seminar in Social Psychology.  In my research, I am investigating individual differences in the experience of romantic betrayal, both from the victim's and perpetrator's perspective.  In particular, my colleagues and I are investigating the mental and physical health consequences of being betrayed, and why some people seem to fare much worse after betrayal than others.  In addition, I am interested in the cognitive processes involved in the experience of romantic betrayal, and victims' perceptions of loss after such events.
