Morehead State University has many network resources available to the campus community. As with most networks we have our wired LAN providing voice and data connectivity to almost all of our local campus. Our current voice network reaches to more areas than our data network. However, we are always expanding service to those areas currently without connectivity. We also have our WAN providing both voice and data services to our remote campuses as well as our extended support facilities. We have recently completed implementation of our wireless campus network 'unstrung'. This network currently provides service to all of our academic buildings, most of our administration buildings, our public areas (ADUC and CCL), and also coverage for Butler Hall and the food court in Alumni Tower. We are currently in the process of expanding this network to provide some outdoor coverage. This coverage will primarily be for high traffic areas on campus. I have been employed with the University since January 2004 and I am very happy with my decision to accept the position. The open environment allows for a more in depth review of network solutions prior to implementation than can often be found in the private sector. I have learned a great deal since being here and the network requirements are always changing making this an exciting and challenging position. Thus, along with my employment at the University I am also enrolled as a student working on my Master of Science in Information Technology degree. Please see my MSIT page for some of my course work.
