On November 02, 2000, a person by the username, Timetraveler_0, began posting on a public forum (which is now nonexistent) saying that he was a time traveler and soldier from the year 2036. Timetraveler_0, later going by the name John Titor, posted pictures of a time machine, it's operational manual, and his time travel insignia (shown above) to message board users. Almost immediately, Titor struck a nerve with bloggers. People began thinking his story was a hoax, and all while posing serious and ridiculous questions began to see that Titor's story was much too elaborate to be a hoax. The intricacies and his knowledge on the subject of time traveler surpass that of many quantum physicists and time travel experts.

John Titor posted for 4 short months answering almost every question posed to him about his life as a time traveler; why he was here, how his time machine worked, what it was like in the year 2036, and even left some astonishing predictions and relevations about the United States and world occurrences along the way that appear to be coming true. John's last message board post came on March 21, 2001, letting people know that he would be returning to the year 2036. He has never been heard from since.

So why was John Titor here? Was he trying to warn us of some awful worldwide attrocity? Was his story an elaborate and well thought out hoax? You decide.

Why was John Titor here?

John Titor was here as part of a mission in 2036 to retrieve a computer part from an IBM 5100 (in some places called an IBM 5110) in the year 1975.

Why come back to get a part off of what many consider an obsolete machine?

According to John, the computer part from the 5100 had the ability to translate all the IBM code written before the widespread use of APL and Basic, however, on his 'timeline' no IBM 5100's were available or were destroyed.Okay, so what does this mean? The part basically was to be used by the military in 2036 to fix or solve problems with their existent computer systems. This is understandable because do you think that NASA uses Windows Vista to track their space missions? I don't think so.

Now this leads us to another series of questions!

If John Titor just needed a computer part from 1975, then why did he stop in the year 2000 to post a few messages on the Internet?

John chose to answer this question with a simple "for personal reasons." Titor was highly intrigued with the culture of our day, with him being born in 1998, he was too young to understand the reasons behind why the world was the way it is in 2036. Interesting enough, John was living with his parents in the year 2000 and they knew exactly who he was and why he was there.

So, how is this possible??! This man just ambiguously answered my question and then had the audacity to say he was staying with his parents!

According to the time travel theories, time and the world we function in is composed of every possible sequence or combination of actions or possibilities, rational or irrational, within a single instance. So, it is plausible for his parents to have known him. For the personal reasons, I believe John came back to 2000 as a promise to his grandfather. Still, how did John Titor get here?

Easy. A time machine. John explained his "time" machine in his very first message post saying, "My 'time' machine is a stationary mass, temporal displacement unit manufactured by General Electric. The unit is powered by two, top spin, dual-positive singularities that produce a standard, off-set Tipler sinusoid."

So, he traveled back in time in a Delorean?!

Precisely! It may sound obscure, but John posted some rather convincing photos.

What were the events that John Titor predicted?!

John predicted many things and made many precautionary statements during his 4 month stay from November 2000 - March 2001, but the most shocking of them had to be that the United States would be in the midst of Civil War by 2005, with it being a full out Civil War by 2008, and nearly half of the world's population would be wiped out by nuclear war propagated by Russia in 2015.

Yeah, yeah. You're probably saying, "Well it is already 2008 and I'm not stabbing my brother yet!"

Good point, but according to mechanics behind John's time machine he travels back in time on an alternate time line with an accuracy of 2.5% of actually landing in the spot that he wants. So, if he traveled forward to 2000 from 1975 with 2.5% accuracy, it simply means that him being in 2000 altered events slightly but much of what John predicted has come true (considering these posts were pre-9/11).

John said that we would be at war with ourselves in 2008, with things get continually worse by 2012. Just look at the shape we are already in! The housing crisis, nearly half of American's are knee-deep in debt, the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, tension between Israelis and Palestinians, the ongoing battle with Iran, bad food and faulty products being shipped from China, Iran, but most of all incompetent leadership.
