About Me
I am a non-traditional student, coming back to MSU for the third time. Due to the down turn of the nation’s economy, I am between jobs and still searching. In the mean time, I am updating my educational background and adding an associate’s degree in electronics. I already have an Associate’s degree in University Studies and a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology with an emphasis in Drafting and Design.
My career background consists of eleven years working in retail, seven years for Roses Department Store as an Assistant Manager, and four years working as a department manager for the sporting goods department at Wal-Mart. I worked for MSU for one year as a technology consultant in the Information Technology department, and then finally got into manufacturing. I worked eleven years for Cooper Standard Automotive (products- Rubber radiator and heater hoses, MLT- multi-layered tubing for gas a vapor lines, and hydraulic tubing for convertible tops). The first two and a half years I worked as a technician working with a product engineer over Ford tier two products. The next seven a half years I was promoted as a program engineer over Ford tier two and then took over the MLT department and Hydraulic lines. Due to company acquisitions, MLT was moved out of the plant and I took over Ford direct Rubber products.
During my tenure at Cooper Standard Automotive I was able to obtain a Green Belt in Six Sigma, trained in GD&T blue print reading, attended seminars in Lean Manufacturing, and gained extensive knowledge as engineer in APQP, launching product to the big three automotive makers, quoting jobs and solving customer issues with the quality department.
I have been married 22 years to a high school teacher. We have three children, 1st son who is a Junior attending MSU for an Educational degree, 2nd son who is working for Wal-Mart and plans to go back to school in the future and a five year old daughter who is attending kindergarten. I also have a granddaughter who is twenty-one months old.
